St. Gregory's
Liz Chandler
I realized recently that God and I have something in common. We both have a sense of humor. Of course, His is much more awesome than mine. Dealing with characters like me, God has to have the ability to laugh. I am sure that many times He has thought to himself, "If Liz ever gets it all together, it will be a true miracle." I need to explain to the folks who attended the Mass last Saturday what happened after the second reading; I was waiting for someone to play the "Alleluia." God gently tapped me on the head with a floppy disk and softly whispered, "It's your turn." Remember, He isn't finished with me yet. By no means am I finished with Him yet. There will be an Advent Penitential Service on Sunday, December 16 at 3 p.m. at Holy Martyrs Church located at 266 Foreside Road in Falmouth. God stands ready at all times to forgive us when we are truly sorry for something we have said or done or have not said or not done. We are all children of God, and He loves each and every one of us unconditionally. Our annual Giving Tree is located at the entrance to the church. We are invited to remove a tag, purchase the requested item, wrap the gift, and be sure to return it by December 23. Each tag represents a happier holiday for someone less fortunate who needs a helping hand. It is in giving that we receive. This Sunday, December 9, our young parishioners will present the Christmas Pageant. This is a very special treat for our parish family. A very special little friend of mine with shoulder length curly hair and pierced ears excitedly told me she was going to be a Wise Man. I said to her, "Laura, that's some kind of Wise Man!" Remain after the l0:30 a.m. Mass and help them as they show us the reason for the season. A dress rehearsal for the pageant will be held on Saturday, December 8, in the parish hall. Excitement will be at a respectful fever pitch. Good luck to everyone involved. Thought for the Day: For those who look with an open heart, God is everywhere. Have a really good week. |
