St. Gregory's
Liz Chandler
If we praise God for our mercies, they are extended. If we praise God during our miseries, they are ended. A dear friend reminded me of these thoughts recently. There are times when I feel as though cats and dogs are raining down around my head and shoulders. With my allergies to animal hair, I sometimes find it difficult to praise anyone. However, God listens and stands ready to help even if we are not sure exactly how to praise Him in the midst of our personal disaster. I might say, "Okay, God, I am not sure how to praise you right now; but I really would like to." He accepts my feeble attempts and sets things in their proper perspective. Yes, it is easier said than done.
Religious Education classes will meet in the parish hall on December 2 from 9 to 10:15 a.m. just before the start of mass. Parents will attend a meeting at the same time.Just a reminder that babysitting is available in the parish hall during mass on Sunday. Two responsible adults are with the little people at all times. Donations for the local food pantries continue to arrive at the church each weekend. Thank you for the continued generosity of our parish family. There seems to be no limit to the generosity shown to those who might benefit from a helping hand. Everyone is invited to the annual Christmas Pageant to be presented following the mass on Sunday, December 9. Our young people are excited about showing us the story of the birth of Jesus. Plan to attend the reception in the parish hall after the presentation. If you are aware of someone who might benefit from receiving a get-well, sunshine, or sympathy card, please call me at 926-3692. I will be happy to send one in the name of our parish family. Simply furnish me with a name and address, and I will take care of the rest. I also welcome the opportunity to recognize a special birthday or anniversary. I would also enjoy sending a seasonal card to anyone who might smile upon receiving one. Thought for the Day: God offers to do what we cannot do for ourselves: change our heart. Have a really good week. |
