Christmas Sing-A-Long

Bring your singing voices and holiday cheer! The 1834 Meeting House located on Megquier Hill Road and the Highland Cemetery Trustees will be holding their 12th Annual Christmas Sing-a-long on December 5 at 6 at the Meeting House. Join pianist Phil House and local Poland resident Bill Eldridge from the Vocal solution for singing and goodies. Donations accepted at the door. All proceeds benefit the upkeep and grounds of the meeting house and adjoining cemetery.

Church Cookbook

Can you ever have too many cookbooks? The members and friends of the First Congregational Church of Gray have put together a tasty collection of recipes in their Supper Room Cookbook. Some recipes are the ones that you have enjoyed at their monthly public suppers. Others are family treasures. There is a section devoted to children's recipes and kitchen crafts. "Gifts from the Kitchen" is another section. This is handily divided by season to give you ideas throughout the year. When Christmas arrives, one of the nine "recipes" given is sure to be a hit for someone on your list! The cookbooks are available for purchase at the public suppers or by calling Jean West at 657-2091. There are 310 recipes for a cost of $10. They would make a great Christmas gift.

Become a Daisy Scout

Daisy Scout Troop #216 is having their first troop meeting on December 16 from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the New Gloucester Bible Church Activity building on Route 100. Daisy Scouts is a Girl Scout troop for kindergarten girls in the Gray-New Gloucester area. We have limited availability; if you are interested, please contact Sarah Walters, 657-7083, or Cindy Hotham, 926-3831.

Project Graduation Meeting

The next Gray New Gloucester Project Grad meeting will be Monday, December 3 at 7 p.m. at the High School Library. All are welcome. For more info call Pamela Slye 671-7447 or Pam Hartig 655-2944.

Great Gift Idea

A great Christmas gift-the Gray Historical Society's Calendar for 2008. Each month highlights a picture and information about many of the historical buildings in Gray Center. The pictures and stories take you on a village walking tour! The Historical Society has had an overwhelming response and only a limited number of calendars are left. The price is only $10 for Historical Society members and $12.50 for non-members. To purchase your keepsake calendar, call 657-4297 or 657-4811 today.

Holiday Story Time

The New Gloucester Public Library will be having it's annual Holiday Story Time on December 6 at 6:30 p.m. The readers will be children, past and present (one of the readers grew up here in town, and is now back with her young son) that have or are using the library. We will also be joined by a young guitarist for some holiday music. Baxter the Library Cat will be making a special appearance. It seems that he likes to have stories read to him. Come join us for stories, music, light refreshments and good fellowship. For more information contact the library at 926-4840.

Stress at CMHVI

Managing stress will be the topic of a Central Maine Heart and Vascular Institute presentation set for December 10 and 13. CMMC wellness instructor Marcy Covey, who also owns Dragonfly Health Touch, a yoga bodywork studio in Poland, will discuss effective stress management techniques. The presentations will be held in the first-floor Young Wing conference room at 1 p.m. on December 10 and again at 6 p.m. on December 13. Light refreshments will be served. Anyone with questions should call 795-8240 or e-mail prevention@cmhc.org.

Covey recently finished four years of training with renowned Thai Yoga Healing Arts instructor Jonas Westring. She has also studied Thai Yoga Massage with Kam Thye Chow of the Lotus Palm School of Massage in Montreal and has attained certification in Pre-Natal Thai Yoga Bodywork through the Palm School.
