Linux at Home
Richard Irwn
My fix for the Tecra laptop display I discussed last time has now been tested by several people on both sides of the globe. It turns out that it also makes some other Tecra and Portege models usable with Puppy Linux. Now I wait for its acceptance by the person responsible for the script file I changed. Although I enjoy being involved in the development of Puppy Linux and writing about it, I am discouraged by the apparent absence of interest in our region. I received only one email since the end of summer; but I am pleased to have worked with H. and L. While I am still eager to assist those interested in trying Puppy on a PC and plan to continue with Puppy, I need to focus on another project; so this article will conclude the series. It has been an experiment that has run its course. Nevertheless, I will keep the email address for a long time, in case interest increases. Trying Linux can be frustrating; Puppy simplifies it, but some equipment can trip it up. That's where I might help. My email address is gngplug@maine.rr.com. Thanks to the G-NG Independent for carrying the column, to you for reading it, and to Riverside Data as my phone contact (926-3330) and for hosting the "user group" work sessions. |
