St. Gregory's
Liz Chandler
Even though Thanksgiving is over officially, I am continuing to write on my calendar daily. Only a few more days in the month of November, but I have barely brushed the surface of things for which I am thankful. Tookie, my "gentle giant," is a very important part of my life. He has been with me for a little over a year and continues to delight me in a variety of ways. Something new reveals more of his personality nearly every day. I never thought I could love another pet as much as I did PITA, but Tookie is right up there. I am thankful that Tookie came to me from dear friends who loved him enough to give him to me. He is loved!Advent will be here before we know it. Resolve now not to be caught up in the frantic frenzy of preparation and lose the true reason for the season. We anticipate the birth of our Lord and Savior. It is truly something to celebrate. Please plan now to attend the Christmas Pageant presented by the young members of our parish family. The Children's Choir sounds like a choir of angels. The youngsters representing the different persons involved are angelic. December is Christmas Fair month for our cluster. Sacred Heart Church Christmas Fair will take place from 9 a.m. To 2 p.m., at 326 Main St. in Yarmouth. Fair date is December 1. See you there! Holy Martyrs Christmas Fair will be held on Saturday, December 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The fair will feature baked goods, silent auction items, crafts, kids' table and loads of etc. Hope to see you there, too! Thank you for the generosity of donations for the Thanksgiving food baskets. The spirit of giving in our parish seems to be endless. All of us are feeling the pinch of gas and fuel oil in our wallets. Remember, though, that some families need a helping hand after Thanksgiving. Please continue to donate any weekend to the local food pantry. Canned meat or meals, peanut butter, paper products, personal care items, tuna fish packed in water, vegetables or fruit, and cereal are always welcome items. Don't forget diapers for the "wee ones". Thought for the Day: Am I merely listening to God's word, or am I doing what it says? Have a really good week. |
