Local to Perform in A Christmas Carol

Phil Vampatella has the role of Old Joe in L/A Community Little Theatre's A Christmas Carol, the Musical playing December 6, 7 and 8 at 7:30 p.m. December 8 and 9 will offer 2 p.m. matinees. He will also be responsible for set d�cor and set construction.

Vampatella, a resident of New Gloucester, has become a regular at CLT, both onstage and offstage at numerous productions the past several years. He received the President's Award in September for his outstanding service to the theater, always with his trademark smile.

Mitchell Clyde Thomas is directing a cast of 85 for this Lynn Ahrens/Alan Menken musical version based on the beloved Charles Dickens novel. This Broadway-style version, full of song and dance, retells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, the bad-tempered miser, who learns the value of love and family after he is visited by the Ghosts of Christmases Past, Present and Future. Kimberly Ellis is the music director.

Local ballet students, Samantha Maristany, Abby Hersom and Lindsey Morton will be performing in The Maine State Ballet's production of The Nutcracker at Merrill Auditorium. Samantha is a Russian Dancer, Abby is a Sugar Plum Page and Lindsey will be singing in the Wescustago Youth Chorale. The girls tried out among dance company students from all over the state. All three girls have been dancing at Prudence's School of Ballet in Gray for many years.

Performances will be Friday through Sunday on the weekends of November 24 and November 30. Tickets are available at Portix or Merrill Auditorium; discounts for seniors and under 12. High School and College student discounts on November 30.
