First Congregational Church

Miriam Bisbee
Another successful Holly Fair goes into the record books. This one added over $3,000 to the working captial of the organizations that took part. Special thanks to John Keller for his quiet and efficient management and to all the workers who manned tables, cooked and served chowder and sandwiches, contributed cookies, crafts, decorations and all the rest. Special thanks to our customers as well; you make it all worth while. We wish you Happy Holidays and hope to see you next year. (Sooner would be better! How about Sunday around 10 a.m.?)

Last Sunday was a particulary joyful one as we welcomed Allie Parker Flagg, daughter of Sara and Scott Flagg, into the fellowship of the Church. What a cute baby! And what a look she gave Paster Nancy with those beautilful dark eyes.

More thanks are due, in this case to the Church School children for the food donations they brought for Thanksgiving baskets. The kids were really heavy-laden and we know that's going to make a joyous day for some of our neighbors.

Have you thought about donating a few hours of your time on a Tuesday evening to the Wayside Soup Kitchen? Pastor Nancy can give you all the details. If you've been entertaining yourself at a "pity party," an evening at the soup kitchen should be the cure.

The month of December is staring us right in the face and that means all kinds of seasonal activities. December 9 is the day of the Christmas Concert. Come to the Chancel at 3 p.m. to enjoy the Choir and the Puppeteers. December 16 brings the Church School children with their Christmas Pagent. Their Christmas Party will be later that same day. Watch this space for notice of other Advent plans as they develop. In the meantime, get some exercise to remove the layer of Thanksgiving fat before you cover it with another layer from Christmas goodies.
