U-10 Girls - After two rainouts the Patriot U-10 girls travel soccer team finally finished out their year in Waterville at the Soccer Maine Girls U-10 Festival. The girls played four games in four and a half hours, due to no-shows at the tournament. They finished the day with one win and three losses, playing short-handed all day, but they were good sports throughout the day as they had been the entire year.

Their parents should be proud of them, they steadily improved all season long. They faced many tough opponents this year playing against teams that were 100 percent U-10 teams with this team being comprised of many U-9 and U-10 girls combined to create a team. The girls will be looking for kids to join them next season on the fields to play so be on the lookout for sign-ups in this local paper in May and come on out for some fun.

U-13 Girls - The U-13 girls wrapped up their season with a trip to the Anthem Cup games for the second consecutive year. They met Massabesic in the semi-final and came away with a 3-2 victory. Although Massabesic had the kickoff, the Patriot team took control of the ball quickly. Michele Dehetre sent a nice pass to Taylor Darnell who blew by the last defender and tallied the first goal of the game in the first five minutes. Just prior to the half, Julia Ritter launched a pass from midfield to Taylor Darnell enabling her to put one more in the net for a 2-1 score at the half. The Patriot girls clinched the win from a corner kick by Taylor Darnell. Goalkeeper Sammie Wilkins had four saves in the first half, including an awesome hit-in-the-air save, and Leandra Grant had three saves in the second half.

Ninety-minutes later, the team faced Western Maine United of Farmington in the championship game. WMU got off to a quick start by scoring early. The Patriot girls came back quickly with a score by Taylor Darnell. The first half continued to be well played on both sides of the field with no other goals by halftime. The Patriot girls came out strong in the second half, firing several shots on the WMU goalkeeper and controlling most of the half. The ball, however, could not find the back of the net. With one minute left in the game, WMU fired a shot off to go ahead 2-1. The Patriot girls quickly took the kickoff and advanced to their goal but the final whistle blew. Goalkeeper Leandra Grant had several saves for the team. The U-13 girls had an outstanding season completing it with a 10-5 record.
