Farm Fresh Produce

Tri-City Food Bank, located at Poland Community Church, asks Maine's farmers for fresh produce to support families who do not have healthy foods to eat. Families need to add freshness to their daily meals. We desperately need your surplus of this year's yields.

We express our appreciation for the support from three local communities: Minot, Mechanic Falls and Poland.

Deliveries can be made on Saturdays at our Food Bank Facility at 1212 Maine Street, Poland, or call Linda Laskey 998-4227 for pick-up.

New Gloucester Cub Scouts

Parents of young boys face a lot of choices in after-school activities. Boys want to have fun, while parents want them to learn positive values and skills that will last a lifetime. If your boy is about to enter 1st through 5th grade, Cub Scouting may be exactly what you are both looking for.

As a parent, you can be assured that Cub Scouting involves a variety of family activities, encourages good behavior, teaches lifelong values and strengthens the bonds of family.

Storage Needed

The New Gloucester Historical Society is in desperate need of storage space for four of their largest museum collection items: the town hearse, a pung, a mail wagon and a sled-representing almost the full span of the town's long history. The society is looking for a generous person or company that will donate space for these items in a barn, garage or other suitable area. If you are that person or company please contact the society's president, Nancy Wilcox, at 926-4213.

Crafters Wanted

The Poland PTA would like to announce our 25th annual Craft Fair to be held Saturday, November 17 at the Poland Community School. Tables are provided. It is $40 for a regular space and $45 for a corner space. Call Michelle Pinkham, PTA President, at 998-4013 to reserve your space.

Newcomer Packets

As a product of several month's effort, the "Welcome, Neighbor" group is pleased to announce the availability of complimentary packets for newcomers to New Gloucester. These packets include business cards, special-offer coupons, pamphlets and mementos donated by area business owners, artisans, civic groups and others. Additionally, a newcomers' guide compiled by the town office staff is included to assist in transitioning into the community.

Any new resident who has moved into New Gloucester on or after September 1, 2007 is encouraged to stop by the town office during regular business hours to pick up a "Welcome, Neighbor" packet.

Tickets are still available for the October 13 Gray Fire-Rescue spaghetti supper at Gray's Public Safety building. Tickets can be purchased at the Public Safety Building or from Fire-Rescue personnel.
