As a child, one of my favorite things about the season of fall was to jump into a pile of leaves. The crispy crunch of the brightly colored leaves was music to my ears. I would laugh and cover myself or attempt to make angels by moving my arms and legs in a sideward motion. It was many years ago but seems like just yesterday. Just one miracle of the changing seasons.Last Sunday, we observed Catechetical Sunday. This is a time when we offer special prayers for those playing a major role in the spiritual development of our young people. The volunteer leaders devote many hours preparing meaningful ways to share their faith and show God's love in action through the Holy Spirit. If you are a catechetical leader, please be assured that our parish family loves and prays for you. Thank you for your generous spirit. Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) will begin soon. RCIA is the process by which those who may be searching for a relationship with God explore the possibility of becoming Catholic. I became a Catholic just before the process of RCIA. My introduction to the faith came from studying with a local priest one-on-one. The best and most wonderful thing I ever did for myself was to become a Catholic. If you or someone you know would like more information, please contact Meslissa Bagdon following mass on Sunday morning. Now that the weather is becoming cooler, there will be more demands on our local food pantries. The cost of oil or wood to heat our homes will force some to have to make difficult choices between being cold or hungry. Non-perishable boxed or canned meals, peanut butter, water-packed tuna, canned fruit and vegetables, pasta, personal care items for men and women, paper products, and baby food are always needed. Don't forget that the wee ones always have a need for diapers. Donations may be left at the entrance of the church any weekend. Thought for the Day: God reaches into our lives every day if our eyes are open to see it. Have a really good week. |
