AUGUSTA - State Rep. Sue Austin compiled a perfect voting record during the 2007 legislative session. The Republican lawmaker from Gray was present for all 199 recorded votes cast in the House of Representatives during the First Regular Session of the 123rd Legislature. Sue has maintained this perfect voting record for the duration of her service over the past five years. "The people of my district are present through me," said Rep. Austin, a third-term lawmaker. "If I am not present, they are not represented on the issues through my vote, plain and simple." After being sworn into office in December, legislators spent almost six months in Augusta before wrapping up their work in June. The legislature held 62 session days in which lawmakers considered 1930 pieces of legislation, of which more than 500 where signed into law. Rep. Austin serves on the Legislature's Business Research and Economic Development Committee and Ethics Committee. |
