Letter to Editor: The Twin Brooks affair, which could have been solved by reasonable people working together, has developed into a legal conundrum with many facets that may yet unfold. Recently, the appointment of Kyle Coolidge to the Gray Zoning Board of Appeals is yet another sidelight of the ongoing Twin Brooks saga. It has been reported that this individual, at some point, entered the Twin Brooks property and tried to pass himself off as interested in camping there. Finally, being exposed, he admitted he was a member of the Gray Zoning Board of Appeals. Maybe he was, and maybe he wasn't, as it was not until some time later that he was reappointed to the board by the Town Council. If he was a member at the time of his sojourn on Twin Brooks property, then it seems to me to be violation of the 4th Amendment to the Constitution, which deals with unreasonable search and seizure by a government official. If he wasn't, then he had no business being there, and it would seem to me to be subject to trespassing laws. In any case, at his reappointment by the town council, a citizen asked that Mr. Coolidge's appointment be postponed because he was not present. The council however, saw fit to reappoint him without any interview, and thus he was. This action on the part of Mr. Coolidge exposes his character and calls into question his ability to treat people fairly. In the case of Twin Brooks, it seems reasonable to me that they have the right to insist that Mr. Coolidge recuse himself on any future action with them. Clifton Foster |
