NORTH YARMOUTH - Friends and neighbors of the Sprague family of North Yarmouth have joined together to put on a benefit old-fashioned Bean Supper on Friday evening, March 30. The meal will be served from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall of the North Yarmouth Congregational Church, 3 Gray Road. Tickets may be purchased at the door for $8 per person, $5 for children under 12. Beans with "all the fixins" including cole slaw, hot dogs, American chop suey and homemade rolls and pies will be served. The 200-year-old home of Daphne, David and Ethan Sprague was destroyed by fire during the evening of February 13. David's woodworking and contracting business, located in an attached barn, was also lost to the flames. During the last four weeks, Stone's Restaurant, located in the heart of North Yarmouth, has held a sold-out special dinner to benefit the family and a "First Friday Lunch" has benefitted the family as well. Contributions from individuals, and collected through businesses located in North Yarmouth have been added to the "Daphne and David Sprague Contribution Fund" account, located at Bank of America in Yarmouth. Community members, some who don't know the family personally, have also helped by lending furniture and household items for the Spragues to use in their temporary rental quarters and by making meals for the family. The North Yarmouth Congregational Church has donated the use of Fellowship Hall for the Bean Supper and donations of items needed to create the meal, including 110 pies, are being solicited.
