First Universalist Church of Auburn announced a total of $3,000 collected for six local charities this past year. Making connections to community needs are at the heart of the UU's spirit of abundance. The church's multifaceted mission includes an opportunity to give financial resources, as well as the gift of our time and expertise.

Funds were raised by holding a second collection once a month. The groups were nominated and voted on by church members last year. Gathered here to share volunteer opportunities with the congregation were reps from the nonprofit organizations, as well as from UU's Social Justice committee: (back row, from left, Dave Rowe of Tom Rowe Scholarship, Calvin Dube and Kim Wettlauffer of Trinity Jubilee Center, Bob Rowe of New Beginnings, Susan Jalbert of UU; front, Toby Haber-Giasson of UU, Kelly Glidden of Abused Womens' Advocacy Project (AWAP), Donna Kincer of Greater Androscoggin Humane Society, Cindy Greathouse and Linda Borth of UU).
