A plaster bust of Henry Wardsworth Longfellow was presented to Pennell Institute by the class of 1893 during graduation ceremonies of the class of 1913. It was rescued from the depths of the Pennell cellar and presented to the Gray Historical Society in 1970. There is a copy of the 1913 class commencement ceremonies noting that the presentation was made by 1893 graduate, Stephen Morrill. Members of the class of 1893 were: George Hawkes, Clara Haskell Twombly, Charles K. Freeman, Susie Hall Sawyer, Harry L. Libby, Clarence A. Libby, Stephen A.
