Students from throughout Cumberland County are invited to enter an arts competition celebrating Portland's history. The competition is sponsored by Fiddlehead Center for the Arts and Bloom Arts & Events, in collaboration with Greater Portland Landmarks and the Maine Historical Society. As part of the June 2007 arts festival, "Picture This! Winners will be showcased at the June 24 festival and awarded prize packages. Individuals or classrooms can participate in any of 13 different categories. Visual arts categories include drawing and painting; ceramics; sculpture; fiber; photography; film/radio/animation; or other. Categories for performing and literary arts include drama, dance, music, poetry, stories and other. Deadline for applications is February 15, and entries must be in by April 1.
