The Building Materials Exchange, which has helped hundreds of families improve their homes and their lives, has closed its doors in Gray. The old chicken barn on Route 100-cold and drafty and dimly lit-finally became too small for the growing operation, which has moved to Route 196 in Lisbon. Former BMX Director Anne Gass, of Gray, said the space was simply too crowded to maintain. "The place in Lisbon is more like a real warehouse," she said, "with good lighting. And you can keep it warm!" The Exchange took in unused materials ranging from lumber to kitchen sinks, cleaned them up and made them available to people who couldn't afford the going rate for new stuff. Others can purchase memberships to take advantage of the good prices. BMX has a branch in Sanford, which will continue. | [an error occurred while processing this directive]
