At the Wildlife Park
Miriam Bisbee
We understand that our injured bobcat had a trial reunion with her
siblings and it didn't go so well as we might have hoped. It seems that
Big Sister had enjoyed her position as undisputed Alpha Female and had no
intention of being dethroned. They had to be forceably separated. We can
only hope she will mellow out as time goes on.Perhaps the lack of compassion which animals (and, all too often, human beings) show to a weak or crippled member of their species serves the evolutionary purpose of survival and reproduction of the fittest. You have to remember that animals are ruled by instinct rather than morality, but it's a little hard to take when you've grown fond of all the parties involved. Just a few more days to visit the Park before it closes to the public for the winter. November 11, traditional Veterans' Day, will be the last day this year, and U.S. veterans can visit the Park free that day. Park volunteers are reminded that they can shop the Nature Store that day and get a 20% discount on their purchases. Such a deal! If you are a volunteer, don't miss it! | [an error occurred while processing this directive]
