Nov 03, 2006 "Building a Better Community Through Communication" Vol 35, Number 42

Good Shepherd United Methodist Church

Natalie Blake
Lots of excitement coming up at Good Shepherd with our next Free Children's Clothing Swap. Yes, that's right-free! On Saturday, November 11, from 8-12, just bring yourself down-kids are also welcome-and browse through our totes to see what you can find. Admission is free and there are no requirements except that you can use the clothes for your kids. Hope you will pass the information along to everyone you know. It is always a great time to meet new friends and to talk to those who come. Why not join us?

This coming Sunday we will have our annual Charge Conference at 4:45 in the afternoon. Our District Superintendent, Rev. Mike Davis, will be our moderator and we will get to hear all about the state of the church from all of the committees. The moderator usually has some questions for the church body to answer, so it should be an interesting time as we work on our future plans.

Did you know we have an active women's group that is just waiting for you to join us for an evening? Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, November 15, 7:00 at the church. Come for fellowship and great conversation. Sometimes we even get a craft or two to work on for our upcoming Christmas Fair. All women of the church are invited along with their friends, neighbors and relatives.

We also have a Friday morning study group which meets at 9:15 A.M. for coffee with the discussion starting about 9:30. We have just started a new study so it will be easy to catch up if you have missed the first session. Just come on down to the church or give us a call for information.

The Youth Group has gotten themselves organized and had their first meeting last Sunday. We meet every two weeks at the church at 5:30 and invite any youth in grades 6-12 to join in. There are games, food, questions and answers and a just plain old good time. You can call the church for more information.

How about you? Do you have children who might like to be in Sunday School? Are you looking for a church home-one that is friendly and really cares about you? Why not give Good Shepherd a try! Come any Sunday at 10 A.M. and see what we are like. Just jump right in with both feet! God will be waiting to catch you.
