Representative Susan Austin
While serving in the legislature on the state Business Research and
Economic Development Committee for the last four years, I have gained
"good news" through state forums and department presentations. I realized
early on that Maine folks do not learn a major portion of the hopeful
happenings in our state. The title "Believe" in ME... (Maine) is my
prevailing message to you... we can "Believe" in Maine for her strength
and what her strength can accomplish! My goal for three years has been to
share that positive news with you through this "Believe" column. The
content has been focused in areas of business growth and creative activity
and has offered linkage for you with business opportunities of assistance
through our Department of Economic & Community Development.Gray's new connector...The Gray Connector and third lane on the Rt. property issues being addressed as well as many finishing details, Shaw Bros. is expected to give the go ahead soon on setting a date for the cutting of the ribbon at an Opening Ceremony. Much thought is being given at this time to the actual release of traffic flow onto the new Connector with regards to back up assistance as commuter traffic, commercial trucking and visitors acclimate to the new configuration and merging of old with the new. HealthReach Community Centers: Visit online! http://www.HealthReachCHC.org to: Learn about services at Health Centers in Maine Find out more about your provider Discover job opportunities Read health tip of the month.... Maine Technology Institute has just finished another round of seed grants awarded to 23 Maine companies valuing $197,000. These MTI funds are matched by over $304,000 in research and development investments by the grant recipients. At a MTI event I meet past recipients and witnessed their research products which documented the great news about Maine's research talent and entrepreneurial abilities. A business in Gray has recently received good news of an award in this round. We have been fortunate to have several research initiatives within Gray, North Yarmouth and Pownal funded in the past four years. MTI is devoted to innovation and high tech development as a private, non profit institution created by the Legislature. It bridges the gap between research, development and commercialization of new products and services in technology-intensive industrial sectors. | [an error occurred while processing this directive]
