Best buys on TV are on Channel 2 tonight
Ray Clark
Another dull Friday night staring you in the face? Wrong. Another exciting Friday evening full of fantastic bargains on the stuff you've wanted all year... another thrilling evening of watching your neighbors make stars (or fools) of themselves on TV... another of those Fridays that come but once a year! Yes, it's time for another Gray-New Gloucester Business Association TV auction: 7 P.M., Friday, October 21, Channel 2. You can bid on dozens of gift certificates good at places like Cole Farms (you go there anyway, right?)... the Hop Shop... Special Effects (your nails could use a little attention)... Greg's Auto Body (get the old buggy looking whole again)... and many more, often going for below face value. Could you use 150 feet of reflective tape? A pool party? A round of golf? A tow? You can get all that, if you're a sharp bidder. If you've spilled some oil, you can pick up a bale of oil-absorbent spill pads. If you're hungry, you can tuck into some of Lonnie Humphrey's famous hot dogs. If you're chilly, TD BankNorth has an L. L. Bean blanket for you. All these items and dozens more have been donated by local businesses, and they're up for grabs from 7:00 P.M. until 11:00 P.M. All you have to do is call! H&H Woodcraft will tempt you with a birdhouse; Mike Vadas has a binocular for you; Dave Ditomaso made a golf shirt you'd look spectacular wearing. (Hey, bid on the shirt and the round of golf at Spring Meadows! Nobody says you can only bid once!) Proceeds from the auction go toward G-NGBA projects, such as the scholarship fund. You not only get a good buy, you do a good deed. So what are you doing Friday night? Thought so. | [an error occurred while processing this directive]
