Agewell Series might put you to sleep

The Fall Agewell Educational Series at Unity Gardens, 124 Tandberg Trail, Windham, will culminate with a presentation on "Sleep and Aging", presented by John Murray, from the ME Sleep Institute. It will be held Thursday, October 26, from 1:00-2:00 P.M.

Sleep problems and disorders affect the lives of millions and, unfortunately, many individuals go undiagnosed. Join John Murray, BS, RRT, RPSGT, from the Maine Sleep Institute and MaineHealth Sleep Disorder Network, as he explores sleeping disorders caused as a result of breathing issues such as sleep apnea, insomnia and restless leg syndrome.

The program is sponsored by Southern Maine Agency on Aging. All are welcome. A drawing and refreshments will follow. Please call Southern Maine Agency on Aging to register. Call Anne Murray at 1-800-427-7411.

Be a Foster Grandma (or Grandpa)

PROP's Foster Grandparent Program has new openings for men and women 60 and over interested in joining the Foster Grandparent Program in Southern Maine.

Foster Grandparents help improve the lives of children with special needs while having a great time and earning a little extra money. Typical assignments include helping children in schools with their school assignments, reading with toddlers in a child development center, or supporting families by visiting with them in their homes.

Foster Grandparents earn a tax-free income while volunteering twenty hours a week in their community, sharing their knowledge and skills. Foster Grandparents are also eligible for paid vacations and sick leave, holidays, assistance with meals and travel, annual physical, pre-service training, supervision and recognition.

If you're interested in receiving a volunteer information packet, call 773-0202.
