ATTENTION, music lovers: The choir is back! (Whether you interpret that
as an invitation or a warning is up to you!) This word from Pastor
Hedstrom is for everyone who contributed special music during the choir's
vacation: "We greatly appreciate the friends and members of our Church who
shared their gifts of music in worship this summer." And that goes double
for the members of the choir who enjoyed other musicians' talents the way
a harried housewife enjoys someone else's cooking.Lacking teachers for our usual Sunday School, we have resumed Children's Messages as part of the worship service. There is a signup sheet in the Vestry for you to designate a Sunday when you will bring the Children's Message. Of course, if you wanted to make the Board of Christian Education completely happy, you could volunteer to teach a Church School class. It's not too late to start. We need to make the children a part of the Church. Last Sunday our Mission Moment speaker was Carol Schoneberg, who told us about "Hospice of Southern Maine". Hospice is the organization which offers practical and emotional support to terminally ill patients and their families. The Mission Committee met after worship to discuss pre-Christmas plans. (Yes, that's coming up-and sooner than you think.) Speaking of Christmas, we are planning on a Promise Tree silent auction once again this year. Let Rose Stansfield know what goods or services you can add to her catalog. You have an open invitation to join one of the ongoing Bible Studies. The Thursday Morning Group meets at 9:30 A.M. An evening group meets at 7 P.M. on Tuesday, and the new study group on Basic Christian Beliefs also meets at 7 P.M. on Tuesday. These groups all meet at the Parish House. In addition, Pastor Hedstrom has begun a Confirmation Group for sixth- to ninth-graders, which meets after worship on the first and third Sundays of the month in the Supper Room. You kids in the fifth- to eighth-grades, don't forget to show up for "Lock Down" by 5 P.M. on Saturday, October 14. That's at the Parish House and all kinds of activities are promised, including a world-record banana split. Would love to see that banana! And don't forget to join us on any Sunday at 10 A.M. at the Church in the fork. We'll be looking for you! Friends of Park meet next Wednesday The Friends of the Maine Wildlife Park will meet, probably for the last time this year, on Wednesday, October 18, at 7:00 P.M. in the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Building on Shaker Road in Gray. Anyone interested in the Park is welcome to attend. | [an error occurred while processing this directive]
